Today
Milly De Mori, aka DJ millydemori, is considered one of the upcoming female
international DJs in electronic music, and the nomination for the Best Italian
Female DJ Award this year just highlights her steady professional progression.
Between club gigs, radio, production work and now her personal label SoundSelective
Records, her career has been steadily growing to a rounder artist
profile.
Swinging from minimal house all the way to tecno, millydemori's sophisticated
and innovative touch is able to convey a certain "groove" yet unique
underground mood to her DJ sets, well suited for both mainfloors or the smaller
rooms.
While working in different clubs throughout Italy and internationally, currently
Milly holds a residency at the legendary club Frau Marlen in Torre del Lago
(Tuscany) and at the equally famous La Messa parties in Milan.
In addition her weekly radio show MILLYBAR on Radio
M2O, Italy’s leader electronic radio station, has been
growing to an impressive following in 4 years she’s been on air.
At
the moment she’s working daily in the studio making music mostly solo,
but Milly has recently started a couple of collaborations in Berlin with talented
producer/dj Inexcess-Binary Choice (Haikai music, Sounds4Freaks), and in Milan
with Luca Doobie (Anomaline).
This year, just in the first two quarters, about 9 tracks (between original
material and remixes) have been released on labels like Presslab Records
and Kritical Noise Records, and the Trittonic EP
(Presslab) successfully reached N.1 in the Balance Record Pool Chart
back in April 08.

In
1999 Milly started SoundSelective.com, a pioneristic online-only-radio station,
that webcasted some of the best house, deep house, teck house and tecno and
offered alongside traditional programming rotation, weekly live webcast shows
with audio and video straight from the DubLab LA’s studios.
Due to the WallStreet crash in 2001 and consequent fall of the Dot.coms',
SoundSelective was forced to suspend the programming and streaming, and that
left Milly De Mori free to pursue her DJ career and delve into music production.
Today SoundSelective is a music service company catering to high-end fashion
brands.
In 2004, as electronica was taking over Europe, Milly decided to relocate
to Italy to be closer in contact with the house and minimal teck house contaminations
coming from Germany and France. Since then she's been traveling and working
regularly to Spain, Tunisia, Germany, London and Berlin.
Her career has taken Milly to share the decks with some of the best DJs like
i.e. Francois K, Mauro Picotto, Miss Kittin, Alex Neri, Stefano Fontana aka
Stylophinc, Paul Oakenfold, Presslaboys, Astro & Glyde, Lance Jordan or
Elio Riso.
Here're some of the cities/countries where she's performed:
Tunisia (Cotton Club), Ibiza (Space, Privilege), London (Hub), Mexico City
(Condesa DF Club Hotel), Paris (Pulp & Fashion events), NY (Centro Fly,
Sullivan Room), Milan (Magazzini Generali, 400, La Messa parties, Codice a
Barre & Fashion events), Germany (Karlshrue, Braunschweig), Florence (Tenax),
Istanbul (Privat Party), Miami (WMC 2002-2006, Opium Garden, Living Room,
Nikki Beach, Cafeteria), SF (Supper Club), Moscow (Club XIII), Turin (La Gare,
Le Chalet), Bari (Divinae Follie, Clorofilla, Mavu'), Venice (Art Biennial
Opening Party), Nevada- US (Burning Man), Atlanta (Eleven50, Riviera, Karma)
and many many more...
Besides the underground club scene, Milly is also involved in the fashion
scene, working & curating the sound for special events, presentations,
catwalk shows or parties for a vast number of luxury brands like Prada, Gucci,
Emilio Pucci, Calvin Klein, Christian Weber, Riccardo Tisci to name just a
few. For a full music-fashion-profile, please go to www.soundselective.com
In
addition, Milly has formed a collaborative project called Three
O together with sax player Amedeo Bianchi
and trumpet player Marco Brioschi , making what's been defined as "electronic-jazzy
lounge music on "acid"", with a broad spectrum of moods and
grooves ranging from chilled to more uptempo ones.
Three O is working on completing their first album, of which 2 tracks have
already been licenced for a Zoogami compilation, which released this past
Winter 2008.
